Riot! Art and Craft went into liquidation last week, reportedly dismissing staff via a text message as the business closed all 56 stores.
Riot! informed its staff of the store closures on October 19, with the company entering administration the following day.
"You are not required to be at work tomorrow [October 20]," the text from Riot! director Michael Kurc read.
"The liquidator will be in touch with you regarding your entitlements."
It is reported the business had about 140 permanent staff with $3.5 million in collective entitlements, and about 160 casual staff.
Victoria's Dye & Co was appointed as administrators to SLKALT Pty Ltd, the company behind Riot!. It had operated for 46 years prior to its liquidation.
SLKALT had eight Riot! stores in Perth, which sold arts and crafts products including acrylic paints, paper, modelling clay and canvases.
