WA unemployment lowest of all states at 3.1%

Western Australia recorded the lowest unemployment rate of all the states in December of 3.1 per cent while the national rate tightened to 4.3 per cent, keeping fears of another interest rate rise alive.
Figures released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics today show the WA unemployment rate decreasing again to 3.1 per cent from 3.4 per cent in November.
A total of 10,400 new jobs were created in WA in December, bringing the state's participation rate to 68.3 per cent - the highest of all the states in the country.
